Heidi Hi-Fives | September 2014

Heidi Hi!

I’d probably be including my favourite umbrella/coat/waterproof mascara etc but it’s been unseasonably warm for September here in Britian so perhaps those items will be making an appearance in October – who knows! For now, here’s what I’ve been enjoying this month…

FASHION

Vans Perforated Leather Slip-Ons I’d been spying on these shoes online for a while so when I saw them in store I tried them on and immediately bought them. I like them because they’re not standard sloppy trainers usually seen on the greasy haired teenagers down the skate park but with all the comfort. They go with everything and actually look quite smart. My friend likes them and she’s SO STYLISH it hurts (p.s. She created Ante Memoria and you can buy her designs here) Even mum is impressed with them, she’s tried mine on and wants some of her own.

FOOD

Sorry, google photo, my box is at work!

I’m not normally a fan of hot drinks, I’ll have a hot chocolate in the winter when it’s really cold/in a mountain restaurant when skiing but having heard that Peppermint Tea is pretty good for you, I thought I’d give it a try. Whilst I’m not drinking mugs and mugs of the stuff, it’s nice to start the day with a refreshing hot drink at my (freezing-cold-please-sort-out-the- air-con) desk.

BEAUTY

Autumn means bringing those darker lip colours out and I’m fully on board with this. This particular shade (307 L’impatiente) was part of the Christmas 2012 collection but the formula is really nice (lightweight and non-drying) so I’d recommend checking out the other Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet colours.

Yes to this combo! My hair is very thin and I find it really difficult to get any volume or texture but this combination seems to be working. The Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo Aussome Volume for dry, limp hair (hello, here!) smells yummy and doesn’t leave my hair feeling heavy and dragged down. The Swamp Spritz gives it a just-got-out-of-bed/French vibe without it actually looking like I’ve just got out of bed…. Girls, you understand.

MUSIC

Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang

You’ve heard it and whether you like it or not, you’ve got your diva on before the singing even starts…

YOUTUBER/BLOGGER

The month of September has introduced me to quite a few new bloggers but for now, I’d like you to meet Megan. Megan has a GORGEOUS blog, it’s soft and pink and just as lovely as she is! She’s helped me out a bit with my blog this month and I’ll be featuring on her side-bar throughout October. You’ll be totally drawn into her YouTube channel too with her charming accent and adorable style.

But please go and send Kaily some love over at Someday Sunny as she’s had a pretty tough week and I know she’ll appreciate it *Big Hugs*

HOME

Whilst not technically a ‘home’ item, it is filled with things for the home. Bill and I are looking to buy a house quite soon – we’re on the hunt, so with that I’m spending my time looking at gorgeous interiors. (If you read this post, you’ll know that the style I like is ‘Modern Rustic’)

That’s it for today although I’d love to hear what you’d like to see on my blog so let me know in the comments or you can send me a tweet!

P.S. I’m sorry it’s Tuesday, I wasn’t prepared for how quickly it got dark yesterday and wasn’t able to take any decent photos. Apologies.

Plaid Mad!

Heidi Hi!

Plaid. Tartan. Check.

I'm a huge fan of this pattern type for the colder months as I think it's quite cosy, especially when it comes to December because it's pretty Christmas-y without wearing baubles and tinsel!

Here is my selection of a few plaid pieces that you could add to your wardrobe for the chilly season…

Top Left: Bonded Check Skater Dress I think this dress would be perfect for the party season, especially as a day to night outfit because accessories really don't need much thought. It'll look just as cute with boots as it will with some killer heels.

Top Centre: Pleated Tartan Wool Skirt My mum bought this the other weekend and I really like it – it's sophisticated and stylish. I'm going to agree with mum and pair with long black boots, throw on a fitted cashmere jumper for added class.

Top Right: Tartan Scarf One of two scarves I've chosen for this post but really, any tartan scarf is going to be a winner.

Middle Left: Tartan Plimsolls I think these shoes would be a good addition to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe for when you're feeling like not making much effort. Jeans, black/grey jumper and these. Done.

Middle Centre Left: Boyfriend Coat Classic and versatile, works just as well with super smart city work clothes as is does with a weekend outfit. The pattern is subtle and I think it's got a slightly vintage vibe to it already so you'll be able to get YEARS of wear out of it without it looking outdated.

Middle Centre Right: Tartan Scarf – I refer to you my previous comment.

Middle Right: Red Plaid Boyfriend Shirt I'm not entirely convinced about the way they've styled it in this photo but I like the shirt all the same. This particular shirt would probably work quite well with more of a grungy outfit.

Bottom Left: Tartan Belted Shirt Dress I want to wear this dress with an oversize cardigan, wooly tights and my Hudson boots.

Bottom Centre: Check Skater Dress Sunday lunch at a cosy pub or perhaps a nice dress for Christmas Day? Modest for church and flattering even when you've consumed a LARGE dinner..

Bottom Right: Tartan Scuba Midi Skirt I can't see myself wearing this but I know if somebody else was wearing it and walked past I'd definitely think “that's cute”. I'm stuck on how I would style it.

Checked flannel/brush shirts are probably my all time favourite item of clothing, for those I recommend Uniqlo, Jack Wills and in the Men's section of TkMaxx for Ralph Lauren!

Are there any items that you think I should have a look at? Send me a link via Twitter!
